How to keep your dog cool during summers?
Tips to keep your dog cool during summers
1. Keep the dog indoors:
One of the best and easiest ways to keep your dog cool in summers is to keep him indoors, either with the windows open or air conditioning. It is so because being out can make your dog suffer from a heatstroke. It may make him vomit, collapse, or lose consciousness. So, it would help if you planned activities with your dog inside the home and not take him out. 2. Invest in air conditioning:
To ensure the comfort of your little buddy, you should invest in air conditioning. It is one of the best ways to maintain the temperatures indoors. Several AC units available in the market, like tower AC, central AC, and window AC come with modern features like a time setting that automatically turns off the air conditioning after a particular time. This ensures that your dog stays comfortable even if you are at work.
3. Add water stations:
If you have a garden where your dog plays or exercises, make sure to set it up with bowls or buckets of cold/ice water. Install faucets close to the ground, so your pet can cool off after being out in the heat.
4. Take him for a dip:
You can set up a small water tub in your garden where your dog can take a dip and enjoy his time. Being in the water is fun and a fantastic way to stay cool. If you have children at home, playing in the bathtub/pool can be an excellent way for them to bond with the pet while you sit and relax in the corner.
5. Exercise in the evening:
While it is recommended to keep your dog indoors, it is impossible to keep him from stepping outside all the time. So, all you can do is stay cautious. When your pet is going out to get some exercise, you should pick a time that is not way too hot. This will ensure that your pet is comfortable and not likely to overheat.
6. Keep fresh water available:
Your dog needs to drink plenty of water during the day, mainly if he is used to a dry kibble diet. Since during summers, he must feel more thirsty, so you should keep a lot of cold or ice water out for him to drink, likely in ceramic bowls.
So, these are a few tips that you must follow to keep your dog cool during the summers.
